Gutter Silk
From Brooklyn, United States
Gutter Silk fuses dusty boom-bap drums, slithering basslines, and cinematic soul samples into lyrics that are equal parts bite and balm; their sound is gritty, poetic, and alive with late-night city light. It's hip-hop that smells of rain on pavement and reads like a radioplay for the underseen.
Formed after a charged open-mic in a converted laundromat, three childhood friends — a beatmaker, a poet, and a crate-digging DJ — welded their styles into a streetwise sound. They spent months recording on busted equipment and turning found sounds from subway rides and late-night diners into the backbone of their tracks.
