Particle
From Portland, United States
Their sound is warm and grainy, built from soft, crackling beats, muted guitar lines, and distant, hazy synths that feel like sunlight through closed blinds. It's music for solitary evenings and slow mornings—nostalgic, intimate, and rich with the comforting imperfections of lo-fi production.
Particle started as late-night experiments in a cramped third-floor flat when three friends began swapping home-recorded loops and field recordings. What began as an informal series of cassette exchanges turned into a deliberate practice of crafting imperfect, intimate songs that felt like whispered confessions. They honed their sound by playing small DIY shows and releasing hand-stamped tapes to a growing local community.
